Frederick, MD USA/Baar, Switzerland – November 14, 2008 - Vaccinogen is pleased to announce that ProVaccine, its Swiss-based distribution partner for OncoVAX®, has been granted permission to export biopsies and import vaccines for OncoVAX® in Switzerland.
“We are delighted but not surprised to receive this good news for both Vaccinogen and ProVaccine.” says Michael G. Hanna, Jr., Ph.D., Vaccinogen’s Chairman & CEO. “Our partners at ProVaccine enjoy an excellent relationship with Swissmedic as a result of their commitment to excellence.”
Vaccinogen already has established in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, a preparation laboratory for the final preparation of the vaccines and doctor’s can apply the vaccine under patient named use to Swiss and foreign patients on a self-pay basis. The decision by Swiss Medic to permit ProVaccine to import OncoVAX® enables ProVaccine to represent OncoVAX® under its own name. The process leading up to this decision started in December 2007 and involved a thorough inspection of the ProVaccine staff, policies, procedures and command of OncoVAX®.
Establishing ProVaccine as the importer for OncoVAX® is the final step towards
granting OncoVAX® full registration status, thus paving the way for Swiss insurance
reimbursement for Swiss patients and opportunities for certain other countries to adopt
the Swiss registration for their respective countries. Final OncoVAX® registration
decision by Swiss Medic is expected in 2009.
